Today, January 20th, local authorities responded to reports of a building explosion near the Puerta de Toledo area of Madrid. Authorities have cordoned off the area around the scene around the fatal explosion, which is believed to be the result of a gas leak.

All ISA students in Madrid are safe and accounted for. Though a distance from ISA housing, students have been in communication with the ISA Madrid resident staff and understand to avoid the vicinity of the blast. ISA will continue to monitor the situation and provide any updates as necessary.

 

As we continue to assess the ongoing developments with COVID-19 here and abroad, ISA has made the very difficult decision to cancel all ISA Summer programs with start dates in May and June 2020.  At this time ISA is not canceling any programs that have a start date in July 2020 or later. ISA will be reaching out to enrolled students over the coming days to discuss alternative options, including deferring to later programs.

ISA is in regular communication with our host university partners who are working on adjusting deadlines and start dates for Fall programs to allow more time for decision making. ISA will continue to monitor the fast-moving developments related to COVID-19 and provide significant updates to students, their parents, and our U.S. partner institutions as we look forward to hosting students on future programs.
